I slipped into a river last night
My hair was wet
My clothes were soaked through
Bramble hooked into the current
Water sopped down my back
My head lopping heavily
Some dreams just keep going
Waking up is only slipping into the same river

I’ve been walking deeper into the water
There are no rocks to climb
And no trees bent to make a bridge
The water is extremely fast
It’s the fastest, angriest water ever
I can smell the fires of people on land
They smell so safe
But I belong in the water
All by myself
With no stepping stones, no rope swing
The only thing in this river besides the death swish of the current
is me
